For prescribers & clinicians

Flexible online work, with clear pay per consultation.

National Health Online (NHO) is a telehealth marketplace — not a clinic. You remain an independent clinician, working under your own licence and indemnity. NHO provides the technology, structured case information and payment routing, so you can focus on safe, efficient care.

Typical clinician pay

  • • Standard async consult: £22.50
  • • Video / complex consult: £27.50

NHO charges patients more and retains a platform margin. You have no marketing or admin overhead, and are paid monthly for work you choose to undertake.

How NHO works for clinicians

  1. 1. Patients submit structured online consultations, often using the AI Symptom Helper to organise their information.
  2. 2. Cases are routed to verified prescribers based on availability, scope of practice and any clinical rules you set (e.g. age, conditions you do / do not treat).
  3. 3. You review the case, decide on management, and — if appropriate — issue a private prescription to a partner pharmacy via the NHO platform.
  4. 4. NHO handles patient payments, pharmacy fees and delivery. You receive a monthly payout and a clear statement of completed consultations.

AI-assisted, but clinician-led

NHO uses AI to help organise information and draft documentation — for example, turning free-text into a structured history or suggesting a draft message to the patient. You always remain in control: you can edit, ignore or overwrite AI output, and you are solely responsible for clinical decisions.

AI tools on NHO do not diagnose, assess urgency or prescribe. They are documentation helpers only and are clearly labelled as such in the interface and in our legal terms.

Your responsibilities and requirements

  • • Current registration (e.g. GMC, NMC, GPhC or equivalent).
  • • Appropriate independent prescribing qualification, where applicable.
  • • Active professional indemnity that explicitly covers online / remote practice.
  • • Commitment to safe prescribing, record-keeping and follow-up.

NHO is a technology platform, not your employer. As an independent clinician, you remain responsible for your clinical practice and must work within your own regulator's guidance and local laws.
